Mahatma Gandhi

About Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma GandhiGandhi dedicated his public life to seeking freedom for his fellow Indian in a non-violent manner. He used his personal time to challenge, discipline and strengthen himself. He practiced vegetarianism and later fruitarianism, using long fasts as a means of self purification and protest. His most important battle was to overcome his own fears and insecurities. He lead a celibate lifestyle from an early age as part of Brahmacharya, the process of being closer to god and gaining self realisation. Gandhi inspired a nation to break free from the hands of its oppressor, something that may not have been achieved without his own self discipline.
